Call for Doctoral Dissertation Colloquium Abstracts
The 2016 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems
October 31 - November 04, 2016
The Florida Hotel and Conference CenterOrlando, Florida, USA
(Abstract Submission Deadline: July 15, 2016 - Extended)
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The 2016 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS 2016) will address, explore and exchange information related to the state-of-the-art in collaborative enterprises and systems, their modeling and simulation, design and use, and their impact. As part of these efforts, the conference will include a session so that students have the opportunity to present their dissertation work and issues.
The CTS Doctoral Dissertation Colloquium (DDC) is intended to bring together PhD students working on CTS related topics and provide them a friendly forum to get constructive feedback. The DDC is an opportunity for students to present, discuss, and disseminate their ongoing research in a constructively critical and informal atmosphere. The goal is for students to obtain valuable feedback from conference attendees, particularly senior researchers and experts in their fields. Additionally, the colloquium is meant to facilitate the interaction and collaboration with other peer researchers and future collaborators.
Doctoral students who have not defended their thesis before CTS 2016 are invited to participate in the CTS Doctoral Colloquium. Students at various stages of their PhD program (but prior to defense) are encouraged to submit their work as a 2-4 page extended abstract. All work relevant to the CTS research community is welcomed.
TOPICS INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
All CTS related topics.
DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM SUBMISSION
Students interested in participating in the CTS Doctoral Colloquium are requested to submit an extended abstract between 2-4 pages (written in English, in the posted IEEE format, single-spaced, double-column, including figures, tables, and references) with the following information:
- title, name, affiliation and contact information; name of dissertation adviser(s);
- an introduction to the research (problem definition, research motivations, background and literature review);
- method used and proposed solution (idea, existing and planned proposals, innovative aspects of the solution);
- current status of the research and expected results;
- plans to complete the research; and expected contributions.
Include up to 6 keywords from the topics list. Add “Doctoral Dissertation Colloquium Extended Abstract” under the title, author and affiliation.
Students should ensure that they have the general support of their dissertation adviser(s) to attend CTS 2016 should their work be accepted prior to submitting their abstracts. Students should also provide a reference letter by their dissertation adviser. Paper and letter should be sent electronically as WORD and pdf documents to Dissertation Colloquium Co-Chairs as email attachments. Include a note stating how you expect to benefit from attending the Doctoral Colloquium.
Extended abstracts should be sent electronically as a pdf document to DDC Co-Chair Dr. Pamela Wisniewski at firstname.lastname@example.org, with a cc to Drs. Agostini and Moh.
The selection process will focus on opportunity to benefit from participation, rather than finished research. Contributions will be reviewed and selected based on quality, relevance, contribution and research phase.
Attending the Dissertation Doctoral Colloquium
All accepted doctoral abstracts are required to be presented and will be included in the conference proceedings. Students will be required pay a DDC conference registration fee (please refer to the Registration and Author Info pages for more details). Students may apply for a limited number of Student Travel Grants (tentative) that we hope to make available. Additionally, students may apply to volunteer for CTS 2016, in which case volunteer registration fees will be waived.
